Brabejum stellatifolium stem-tip leaves glossy

This Brabejum stellatifolium stem-tip has six fairly broad, highly glossy, hairless leaves with big, nearly paired, marginal teeth. The deep but variable incisions of the teeth differ on the leaves in distance from the base.

Visible lateral veins ascend fairly close together on the dark green upper surfaces. The veins aimed into the wider, lobe-like tooth-tips are more distinct. The midribs, conspicuous in the lower halves of the leaves, are cream to lemon yellow.

Their short petioles are brown-red with what appears like a whitish hair-covering, changing according to the angle of presentation to the viewer (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
