Pseudoselago spuria buds

Pseudoselago spuria flowers grow in spikes, grouped in flat-topped clusters. The buds in picture are assuming position, preparing for opening.

There are narrow, persistent bracts below and attached to the calyx of each flower. These bracts curve in and become brown and hard. The calyx is five-lobed (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist; iSpot).
