Cyphostemma juttae leaves are fleshy and blue-green. They are simple and deeply lobed when young, becoming three-foliolate as they mature. Leaf shapes vary, mainly from ovate to elliptic, the terminal leaflet being bigger than the lateral pair. The leaf margins are coarsely toothed. The plant is deciduous.

The fruits are spherical to ovoid, changing colour from green and red to purple or black in grape-like bunches, maturing in late summer. The pretty red to purplish black berries are poisonous (Smith, et al, 2017; Mannheimer and Curtis, (Eds.), 2009; www.plantzafrica.com).
