    The dark red and shiny (also sticky) tubular flowers of Erica discolor shown here have greenish yellow tips while in bud, yellow when open. The leaf-like sepals are yellow in the photo, the bracts behind them very closely positioned and overlapping.

    The slight bulge in the tube near the mouth is sometimes more pronounced than on the plant shown here (Manning and Helme, 2024; Baker and Oliver, 1967; Manning, 2007; iNaturalist; iSpot).
