Heterolepis aliena is at home on rocky slopes. Even right down by the sea will do. This flowering was seen in November at Kleinmond. So close to the high-water mark means that sea spray at high tide and on windy days will bring a salty dose not meted out to inland plants. Still, there appears to be no adverse effects, no suffering here, judging from the flowering performance.
