The blond form of the tawny eagle is a pretty sight among bushveld trees. Perched here at dusk, it may be looking for a light supper. A small mammal will do, or something else that fits the birds varied diet. Who knows when somebody tasty will come marching past?

Perpetual vigilance! Such a vital attribute where everyone is food.

Tawny eagles occur in various types of woodland. They may live alone or in small groups when there is enough to eat. Seen here keeping its solitary vigil in the Kruger National Park, life is probably quite good after ample rains.
