    Curio radicans flowerhead

    Curio radicans flowerhead
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Jack Lätti

The flowerhead of Curio radicans, a member of the Asteraceae family, has disc flowers only. The flowerheads grow solitary on long, erect, purplish peduncles. The robust purplish bracts and green receptacle below the white cluster of disc florets can be seen in the picture.

The flowers are said to be cinnamon-scented. Flowering lasts from autumn to spring (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2010; Wikipedia).
