    Adenandra uniflora

    Adenandra uniflora

The elliptic white petals of the china flower with their purple-lined centres make delicate fynbos flowers. They are valued as garden plants, although not yet widespread in cultivation.

Adenandra uniflora are small shrubs, quite hardy and flowering in late winter and spring. When not in flower the leaves are an attraction as well. The plant is similar to A. villosa. The relationship is complicated by hybrids of the two probably occurring in nature in the Cape Peninsula (Manning, 2009; Bean and Johns, 2005).
