    Euphorbia mauritanica fruit

    Euphorbia mauritanica fruit
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

These fruits of Euphorbia mauritanica were found next to the road east of Barrydale during October. The segmented yellow-green capsules, ribbed between the segments, are arranged in a ring as the female flowers had been before. The remains of the yellow glands that were adding appearance around the flowers are now just dry reminders, stuck halfway up the pale green stalks.

Style leftovers still persist on top of the fruits (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist)).
