These Liparia splendens corollas tend to orange more than on some of the plants where they are yellower. These also show red on the wing petals. The banner petals folded down the centre with hooded tips veer away from the wings and keel that cohere, forming pointed beaks. Banners of old flowers splay further outwards.
The ten stamens are completely enclosed inside the keel, a boat‑shaped structure formed of two fused petals flanked by the two wing petals. The stamens are curved upward inside, forming a column around the pistil. The anthers only become visible when the keel is depressed or split (Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
