Barleria rotundifolia, the spiny yellow barleria is spiny and yellow-flowering. It grows to a rounded, sometimes rambling shrub.

It is found in the Lowveld, the north-eastern grassland and bushveld region of Limpopo and Mpumalanga. The habitat is hillsides, both in shade of woodland trees and full sunlight. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century (www.plantzafrica.com; www.redlist.sanbi.org).
