This umbel of Xysmalobium involucratum flowers have bluish purple blotches occurring randomly on the white corolla lobes. There are more such markings on the still closed outside surfaces of the bud in picture than on the hollow lobe insides.

The five fleshy, dull green corona lobes emerging erectly out of the staminal column bulge notably. They end in paired tips, some white, others also purple.

The five narrow sepal lobes visible behind some corollas are pointed and hairy, here also into some purple colouring, on the inside and out. The corolla lobes are also hairy on their outsides (Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist; iSpot; JSTOR; https://pza.sanbi.org).
