An interesting range of succulents have been found for saving from the De Hoop Dam basin by members of Operation Wildflower.

Stapelia gettliffei is just one of the species found there. Its flower measures about 10 cm across, the corolla lobes about oblong near the base before tapering to acute tips. Dark purple transversal bands like tiger skin are found upon the pale and hairy corolla lobes.
