A pair of long, narrow spathes, green and leathery, enfold the Moraea huttonii flower base tightly below the corolla, making the flower stalk appear thicker. The inner three tepals are shorter and more erect than the outer ones marked with nectar guides. The outer petals are about 55 mm long, their spreading limbs about 35 mm long and 25 mm wide, the inner ones 45 mm.

The outer surfaces of the flat blades of the nectar guides are a paler yellow than the corolla (Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
