    Euphorbia tridentata beginners

    Euphorbia tridentata beginners
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Louis Jordaan

The few inconspicuous Euphorbia tridentata plants in picture are growing tiny stems, more grey than green in the western Little Karoo. The few tubercles on the knobbly stems are quite pointy.

This is but one of the South African euphorbias called vingerpol (finger tuft) in Afrikaans. The names E. ornithopus and E. patula are also associated with this plant (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
