Euclea polyandra leaves

Euclea polyandra leaves
Author: Ivan Lätti
Photographer: Louis Jordaan

The simple, short-stalked leaves of Euclea polyandra are subopposite to spiralling, borne erectly.

They are elliptic in shape with rounded to pointed tips. The leathery, mostly flat blades may be hairy when young and dull green to yellow green or dark green.

The pale midribs are slightly prominent on the lower surfaces. Faint lateral veins ascend spaced from the midribs and curve in among net-veining that is sometimes seen, clearly against the light (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://www.fernkloof.org.za).
