Tylecodon leucothrix darkened leaves

Tylecodon leucothrix darkened leaves
Author: Ivan Lätti
Photographer: Louis Jordaan

Seasonal leaf discoloration in Tylecodon leucothrix may happen as in the photo, turning them purple-brown. The insides of the thickly succulent blades are concave, the outsides rounded and convex. The stubbly hairs are short and pale, somewhat sparse.

Some call this plant bunny ears, others the whitehair butterbush. The specific name, leucothrix, is derived from the Greek words leukos meaning white and thrix meaning hair, referring to the white hairs on the leaves (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://worldofsucculents.com).
