Crassula pyramidalis branching spree

Crassula pyramidalis branching spree
Author: Ivan Lätti
Photographer: Louis Jordaan

This Crassula pyramidalis plant growing thin stems has lost most of its greenness in favour of various shades of orange, purplish red and even greyish. The abundant recent branching is notable for being of the deepest hues.

Branching may occur anywhere on C. pyramidalis stems, but some stem parts are marked by multiple, concurrent branchings.

The photo was taken near Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo (Frandsen, 2017; Smith, et al, 2017; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Moriarty, 1997; iNaturalist).
