    Osteospermum moniliferum rare leaf margins

    Osteospermum moniliferum rare leaf margins
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Louis Jordaan

Osteospermum moniliferum leaves rarely have red margins, these maroon ones quite unusual. The elliptic to obovate leaves have variably toothed margins, almost always green.

Young leaves are often hairy, even cobwebby, losing hairs with age like men, but variability does bring surprises in this plant over its wide geographic distribution (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2009; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
