    Berkheya cuneata leafy stem

    Berkheya cuneata leafy stem
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Louis Jordaan

The erect, leafy Berkheya cuneata stem displays thickish, banner-like blades, nearly flat and about obovate. They are pale velvety grey with brown spines spaced along the margins.

Mainly lower leaf surfaces are visible, midribs and the few ascending lateral veins bulging. Some leaf-tips are about flat or square (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
