    Moraea tripetala spotted nectar guides

    Moraea tripetala spotted nectar guides
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This pale blue and white Moraea tripetala flower has white nectar guide areas lower down the tepals. These parts are flushed yellow away from their margins and black-dotted in the centre.

Outer tepals of M. tripetala end in variously pointed, occasionally rounded, usually sagging tips.

A dry spathe tip protrudes beside the tepals in picture.

The photo was taken in Jonkershoek during July (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1997; iNaturalist).
