    Ehretia amoena toothed leaf

    Ehretia amoena toothed leaf
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Piet Grobler

Ehretia amoena leaf margins sometimes have a few irregular, angled teeth near the leaf-tips, confined to the upper thirds of the blades.

The midribs peter out from leaf-base to tip and lose colour, although the petioles are not always maroon as here. The lateral veins and net-veining is sunken on top, adding to the coarseness of the blade surfaces.

An earlier name of E. amoena was E. obtusifolia (Coates Palgrave, 2002; Pooley, 1993; iNaturalist).
