Moraea regalis green ovary central

Moraea regalis flowers grow solitary, enveloped in near-cylindrical fashion at the base by a pair of unequal, leathery spathes. Above the spathe tops protrudes the green ovary and above that the six tepals around the flower centre.

Three of the tepals are large and lobed, the other three narrow and pointed, angling out around the erect, central column of stamens and style. The style branches angle out above the column and bend inwards with the brown of the stamens adhering visibly to their lower parts (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; iNaturalist; https://www.pacificbulbsociety.org).
