    Ledebouria mokobulanensis leaves

    Ledebouria mokobulanensis leaves
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

One or two round to ovate or cordate (heart-shaped) leaves are produced annually from a Ledebouria mokobulanensis bulb. The leaves are mostly positioned flat on the ground.

The blades are dull green, dark green, yellow green or reddish green and fairly densely pitted. The pits are often dark red, while occasionally only hollowed and darker green. The leaf margins are entire and finely dark-rimmed, somewhat reddish and sometimes hairy or papillate (Hankey and Edwards (2008): Ledebouria mokobulanensis, a new species from the high-altitude grasslands of Mpumalanga. SA Journal of Botany 74(2), pp 214-217; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
