    Lachenalia buchubergensis flowers

    Lachenalia buchubergensis flowers
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The tubular flowers of Lachenalia buchubergensis grow in a short spike near the ground, pointing outwards. The base part of each perianth is nearly white, the upper part in bud brownish. Once a flower opens the short, angular lobes are deep red purple.

Dark oblong anthers are visible in the flower mouth. Hard to say whether they are exserted or level with the lobes (iNaturalist; Wikipedia).
