Lachenalia buchubergensis is a small, bulbous perennial.

The species distribution is small in the Northern Cape, the northwest of the Richtersveld, also in southern Namibia.

The habitat is dry scrubland and succulent Karoo, the plants growing in crevices among boulders, on granitic, south-facing, lower slopes and on flats of gravelly quartz. The species is not considered to be threatened in its habitat early in the twenty first century, the population stable in spite of heavy overgrazing (iNaturalist; Wikipedia; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
