    Gloriosa rigidifolia inflorescence

    Gloriosa rigidifolia inflorescence
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The inflorescence of Gloriosa rigidifolia is a raceme of bell-shaped flowers at the tip of an erect stem.

Each pedicel is subtended by a leaf-like, ascending bract. The initially green, pointed buds soon begin to nod. Leaf-tip curls enhance the floral effect (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Letty, 1962; iNaturalist; https://powo.science.kew.org).
