    Gloriosa rigidifolia flower

    Gloriosa rigidifolia flower
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Judd Kirkel Welwitch

The longish, ascending pedicels of Gloriosa rigidifolia flowers curve down near their upper ends, causing the flowers to nod. The six perianth segments are free to the base, broadly ovate while attenuating to acutely pointed tips. Nearly parallel vein lines are visible on the segments against the light.

The six stamens end in erect, yellow anthers, oblong and lobed. The superior ovary is three-locular. The whitish, thread-like style at its tip ends in three stigmatic branches (Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; Letty, 1962; iNaturalist; https://powo.science.kew.org).
