Brachycorythis pubescens leaves

The stem of Brachycorythis pubescens is leafy all along its length, or from ground level to the inflorescence where the leaves morph into floral bracts. The stalkless leaves loosely overlap and ascend as they spiral up the stem.

The ovate to lanceolate leaf-shape tapers to acutely tipped points, slightly to the bases. The blades are finely hairy and visibly veined, the midribs conspicuous, prominent on the lower surfaces. Leaf size is about 5 cm long and 1,7 cm wide (Pooley, 1998; Lowrey and Wright, 1987; iNaturalist).
