This succulent Hermannia species is among the less seen members of its genus. Known from only a couple of sites by the sea near Cape Columbine and not “found in the books” it was provisionally called Hermannia orgasmiodorata by Dr David Gwynne-Evans on account of its unusual aroma. This was still a manuscript name to be confirmed or changed later.

Subsequently it was noticed that iNaturalist shows the plant as H. procumbens subsp. orgasmiodorata. SANBI has not yet included it in the Red List.

The soft branches of the coastal perennial scramble over sand and stone in the open (David Gwynne-Evans personal communication, 2022; iNaturalist).
