Senecio maritimus unusually lobed leaves

Some Senecio maritimus leaves have bigger toothing, occasionally morphing into irregular lobes that are more seen on lower stems of bigger plants. The elaborate ears at the base of the stalkless (sessile) leaves in picture appear stem-clasping, a conclusion not always certain. The plant may also produce notably narrower leaves with gradually tapering bases.

Leaf midribs are sometimes conspicuous, particularly lower down, while lateral veins are indistinct to invisible (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
