Nemesia strumosa also known as balsa mienie

Nemesia strumosa also known as balsa mienie
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Nemesia strumosa, commonly known in Afrikaans as balsa mienie or rooileeubekkie (red snapdragon or little red lion’s maw), is an annual restricted to part of the west coast.

Its wide range of flower colours enhanced by mottling and hairs in the throat, as well as the intriguing corolla shape, makes the plant a garden favourite.

There’s more about this one in the Nemesia Album under Genera (Manning, 2007; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
