Grielum humifusum flower and fruit

The Tietiesbaai Grielum humifusum or G. grandiflorum flower has short, yellow-anthered stamens in its base.

The black parts in view are visiting pollinators who have no chance of camouflage or deception in this terrain. Pollinators may get eaten by bigger ones while performing services or enjoying their last meal. The flower is not necessarily adversely affected by such happenings in its private region.

The developing, red fruits show earlier success stories approaching their final chapters, each with five persistent sepals angled up or out in early celebration of their achievement (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; iNaturalist).
