    Aspalathus kougaensis sapling

    Aspalathus kougaensis sapling
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

This hard to see young Aspalathus kougaensis plant growing among renosterbos in the Kouga is single-stemmed with erect as well as spreading branches.

The dense leaf covering near the stem-tips soon lose intensity as older stems lose their leaves (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; JSTOR; iNaturalist).
