Anginon difforme fruits far gone

The annual reproductive task is about completed in May on this stem-tip of Anginon difforme, in Afrikaans known as wildevinkel (wild fennel).

Partial remains of the small umbels within the bigger umbel of the compound inflorescence structure is still evident in the different-sized pedicel and peduncle groupings. It can also be observed in the patterns in which the dry fruit husks are arranged.

Earlier, there were discs and protruding styles that crowned each erect fruit. The fruits grow in pairs, positioned facing each other at the tip of a pedicel.

A. difforme normally flowers in summer and almost to the end of autumn (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Coates Palgrave, 2002; iNaturalist).
