Hermannia cuneifolia flowers in shades of age

Hermannia cuneifolia flowers in shades of age
Author: Ivan Lätti

There is hope for the aged, judging from these Hermannia cuneifolia flowers. Youthful petal colouring at its floral peak has only one option, viz. yellow. The fading flowers in picture, however, have a range of orange, purple and brown shades in which to express their seniority. The young flowers probably have it over the rest in fragrance and visitations.

The larger leaves are wedge-shaped to obovate, ending in angular teeth at their tips (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Le Roux, et al, 2005; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; JSTOR).
