Gomphocarpus cancellatus few tall branches

Gomphocarpus cancellatus few tall branches
Author: Ivan Lätti

Tall and bare, the few Gomphocarpus cancellatus stems display numerous leaf scars. They tell about years of past life, meeting sun and wind unimpeded by surrounding vegetation, due to the plant’s relative height in its Kagga Kamma habitat.

Few branches may emerge lower down later, flowering at and close to the tip and retaining leaves only in upper parts (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; iNaturalist).
