Euryops speciosissimus emptied out

Euryops speciosissimus emptied out
Author: Ivan Lätti

This is the little involucral bowl that remains for a while at a peduncle tip after the Euryops speciosissimus flowerhead has done its thing, its contents gone.

Beauty can here be appreciated at different levels: in the flowerhead’s changing appearance from bud to this, in one more successful completion of the reproductive cycle of a flowering plant and in the big picture of life’s manifold ways of rendering nature miraculous (Manning, 2007; iNaturalist; http://pza.sanbi.org).
