    Trachyandra divaricata

    Trachyandra divaricata
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

Trachyandra divaricata, the branched onion-weed in common parlance, presents a multitude of small, white, nodding and star-like flowers during winter and spring. The narrow tepals that curve backwards have faint purplish longitudinal central lines and yellow marks at the flower base, features shared with several other Trachyandra species. Flowers last for an afternoon with only a few of those on each stem opening per day (Manning and Goldblatt, 1996).
