Euryops tagetoides peduncles or stalks

The peduncles of Euryops tagetoides flowerheads start off pale and fuzzy, covered in soft hairs. They lose the hairs as they become smooth and brown, also longitudinally lined when dry. The flowerheads are borne well above the foliage, the peduncles long and erect.

Below, at the stem-tips, white and later green, young leaves preside over the oldest ones that darken as they wither but persist on the plant for some time (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; http://www.worldfloraonline.org).
