Huernia barbata subsp. barbata corolla outside surface

The corolla exterior of the Huernia barbata subsp. barbata flower seen at this angle is imposing in shape, dull in colour. The claw-like, attenuated lobe tips are well-developed on the near side, collapsed on the far side; the fate that may befall those that bloom under a rock. The lower part of the corolla is an about cylindrical cup.

At the base of the cup some narrow sepal tips, there are five of them on each flower, and a bit of thickish, cylindrical pedicel are peeping out (Frandsen, 2017; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; White and Sloane, 1937; iNaturalist; http://llifle.com).
