Chrysocoma ciliata fruiting

Chrysocoma ciliata fruiting culminates in the head exploding in long, white bristles of numerous fruit pappuses. The narrowly elliptic fruit below its shuttle-cock of bristles is flattened with a thick rim, surrounded by tiny scales.

The narrow involucral bracts are now dry and brown-tipped, all spreading widely below the hairy affair, not impeding the gradual loosening and wind assisted departures. A few brown-tipped fruits in the centre are lagging behind the outer ones in picture.

The about cylindrical green stem-leaves below are smooth and round-tipped, growing right up the stem to the head (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2009; Pooley, 1998; iNaturalist).
