Boophone disticha leaves out-curving

Boophone disticha leaves out-curving
Author: Ivan Lätti

The more or less wavy margined Boophone disticha leaves may curve out in their two opposite, vertical arrays, resembling a fountain. The fan-shaped leaf arrangement on the half above-ground bulb is called distichous.

The curvature of the tips, in or out, is an additional feature of the glaucous, i.e. blue-green or pale grey blades. The leaves become 10 cm to 35 cm long and 1 cm to 4 cm wide (Duncan, et al, 2016; Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Pooley, 1998).
