Geelsneeu abundance

Spring in the Biedouw Valley is brighter because of the blooms of geelsneeu (yellow snow). Expanses of these yellow-flowering daisies make early September impact where the grass is short on the flat land.

The plant bears the daunting scientific name of Rhynchopsidium pumilum but names aren’t encumbrances to flowers.

Grandma, why do people give me such an unflowery name? To know and care for you better, my child!

Grandma is, of course, not present in the sap, only an imagined voice in the wind. She bloomed two seasons ago, geelsneeu being an annual herb.
