Phylica rigidifolia erect stems

Phylica rigidifolia erect stems
Author: Ivan Lätti
Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The wiry, erect branches of Phylica rigidifolia may be sparse in the plant’s semi-arid, fynbos habitat. Young stems are hairy, while old, lower stem parts in picture are leafless and grey-barked. There are also some dead branches present in picture.

The photo was taken in the Biedouw Valley during September (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
