The Diosma hirsuta shrub or shrublet is rounded and much-branched. Upper stems are soft and erect, lower ones woody becoming leafless with age. The plant coppices readily from its woody rootstock (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
