The open flowerhead of Bolandia pinnatifida is nearly spherical to slightly flattened once all the disc florets participate. White, creamy white or occasionally pinkish purple forms occur.

Scattered, stubby anthers protrude from a few florets near the top of the head, while it is harder to spot the few exserted styles with curved branches. These exserted styles are further out from the centre of the head than the stamens, therefore on older florets. The pollen of a particular floret is ripe for sending elsewhere before the ovary of the same floret is susceptible to pollen (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
