Veltheimia capensis leaves broad and less wavy

Veltheimia capensis leaves broad and less wavy
    Author: Ivan Lätti
    Photographer: Thabo Maphisa

The leaf rosette of a Veltheimia capensis plant like the one in picture may be broader-leaved with less marginal waviness than the common view of these plants.

Encountered near Barrydale in the west of the Little Karoo, these leaves were lush in October. Leaves normally die back on these plants by summer. The blades are here pale green to blue-green, longitudinally lined and broadly channelled (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Leistner, (Ed.), 2000; iNaturalist).
