Moraea inconspicua, sometimes called the tough tulp is a slender perennial reaching heights from 25 cm to 45 cm. The branched stems and peduncles are notably sticky.

The species distribution is in the Western Cape, to the north in the west of the Northern Cape in Namaqualand as far north as Steinkopf, and to the east in a coastal strip into the Eastern Cape as far as Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). The photo was taken in the Biedouw Valley.

The habitat is fynbos, renosterveld and succulent Karoo on grassy slopes and flats in sandy and clayey soils, coastally and inland. The habitat populations of both recognised subspecies are deemed of least concern early in the twenty first century (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Manning, 2007; Moriarty, 1997; iNaturalist; http://redlist.sanbi.org).
