Hermannia aspera leaves and young stem

Hermannia aspera leaves and young stem
Author: Ivan Lätti

Hermannia aspera leaves vary in width, here broader than some of the wedge-based oblong ones also seen.

The upper maroon stems may be thin and zigzag between nodes, where bracts resembling the leaf stipules are present.

The stem-tip flower clusters are often few-flowered (Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist; https://casabio.org; www.worldfloraonline.org).
